You are going to be able to spot early morning risers and predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas when they return to their dens after overnight hunting over the early morning game drive. Expect to see warthogs, Uganda kobs, lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, bush pigs, bush duikers, sitatunga antelopes, Rothschild giraffes, and hyenas among other animals during the game drive. Watch for rare bird species such as Abyssinian ground hornbills, Secretary birds, Grey-crowned cranes, and Denham’s bustard, among others.
After the game drive, return to the resort for leisure and lunch. At 2 p.m., you will embark on a 3-hour boat voyage eastward through an archetypally African stretch of the Nile River, surrounded by Borassus palms, acacia bush, and mahogany stands. Look out for dozens of Nile crocodiles skimming along the surface of the water, as well as pods of hidden hippos bursting the surface to grab a look at you. Elephants and buffalos can be seen quenching their thirst on the riverbanks, along with a variety of waterbirds such as the incredible, pre-historic-like Shoebill, the well-named Goliath heron, Saddle-billed stork, African jacana, Squacco heron, and African fish eagles. When you reach the bottom of the falls, you begin the walk to the top of Murchison Falls. These are possibly the world’s most powerful waterfalls! They are part of Africa’s largest river, which is 50 meters wide, falls squeezing through a 7-meter-wide gap and falling 45 meters down, snap amazing images. Return to the lodge for some rest, dinner, and sleep.
