4 Days Selous Safari Game Drive And Walking Safari Tanzania
In Tanzania, Selous Reserve is one of the largest among the reserves in the country and Africa at large offering boat safaris along River Rufiji, walking safaris, and game drives inside the reserve. The Selous Game Reserve covers 54600 square Kilometers and it derives its name from the hunter and explorer Frederick Courtney Selous who was killed during World War 1.
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve
You will be picked up by one of our representatives from Dar es Salaam city center and proceed to Selous Game Reserve with packed lunch. Later on, you will go for an evening boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. You will discover the River by boat, you will have an encounter with hippos and crocodiles in large numbers. There are more than 400 species of bird life: Fish eagle, Kingfisher, Secretary bird, Sunbird, Hammer kop, Red & Yellow bill stork, Open bill stork, Weavers, Water birds, Marabou stork, Vulture, etc from the Miombo woodlands and the Rufiji swamplands.
Day 2: Game Drive in Selous Game Reserve
You will have a full day in the Selous Game Reserve exploring it in a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The Selous Game Reserve is so famous for elephants and other species commonly seen are Lions, Wild dogs, Buffaloes, bushbucks, Impalas, Elands, baboons, Zebras and the greater kudus. It was originally set aside as a hunting area where animals are in abundance. A 4×4 wheel vehicle will permit you to have a good photographic opportunity and the chance to explore different sections of the park. Dinner and overnight stay at Zarafa Tented Camp on a full board basis.
Day 3: Walking Safaris and Game drive in Selous Game Reserve
After an early breakfast, you will start with the early morning walking safari followed by a game drive with your packed lunch. The walking safari will give you an opportunity to feel for the African wilds. It starts in the morning with guidance from armed rangers taking you for about 2 hours before meeting your driver at the reserve gate. You will have a chance to see giraffe, Zebra, elephants, and various bird species. Dinner and overnight stay at Zarafa Tented Camp on a full board basis.
Day 4: Selous Game Reserve – Dar es Salaam
After a warm breakfast, return to Dar es Salaam with packed lunch.
