Our guides help you to secure your gorilla permit for a particular region and on the tracking day, the rangers divide and allocate the visitors to each gorilla family in that region, putting a number of factors into consideration such as the ability to track distant and challenging families. However, no more than 8 trekkers can be assigned to one gorilla family.
At around 8.00 am trek begins through the dense rainforest filled with rare monkeys, exotic birds, and butterflies. The gorilla trekking in this park can take 2 to 8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas; it can be fairly strenuous as the trails can be steep, with the humid air and the dense vegetation. But the effort is all worth it when you finally reach a family of rare and endangered mountain gorillas eating, playing grooming, and napping, their behaviors are so familiar to make you feel like you have known them all your life. It is an extraordinary and exciting moment to see the world’s largest living primates in their natural habitat.
