After breakfast, you head out for the park’s dense wildlife population. The broad grasslands of the Maasai Mara offer wonderful opportunities for animal watching and photography, and the fields of grass are broken up by rocky outcrops that serve as favored midday resting locations for Lions. The primary attraction in Masai Mara is the migration of millions of wildebeest from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park to Kenya’s Masai Game Reserve, which you may be able to witness if you’re lucky. As a result, the Mara has become a mecca for “wildlife activities,” attracting hundreds of pastoral game and predators. Return to your lodge for some rest and lunch after an exciting day of animal viewing.
In the late afternoon, you will visit a traditional Maasai community to discover more about the wonderful Maasai culture and way of life. The Maasai were nomadic cattle herders who migrated to this area in the seventeenth and eighteenth century from what is now South Sudan. They rarely hunted, with the exception of ritually killing a lion as one of the tests of age. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay in the evening.
