Accommodation At Rwenzori National Park
Accommodation on a Rwenzori trek is functional, but comfortable. Many beautiful and stunning lodges and Bandas/campsites are ready to welcome visitors of Rwenzori which are sited/situated on the park gates, in towns and other places including the; Ruboni Community Camp, Turacco, RMS Lodge, Geo-lodges, Margherita Hotel, Rwenzori Base camp, Equator snow lodges, Midrange Hotel, and many others.
There are wooden huts in the mountains that are designed to keep out the worst of the weather and offer space for storing apparatus that is required on different sections of the journey.
The foothills of the Rwenzoris are home to a range of comfortable lodges, hostels, and camps which make for relaxed bases on your adventures in Rwenzori Mountains National Park.
Rwenzori Turaco View Campsite:
it’s a small village of Muhinga near the snow-capped peaks of Rwenzori Mountians. The local Bakonzo people have lived in this area for over 300 years without running water and electricity where they have got familiarized to the traditional way of life that matches the climate and steep green hillsides of the mountain foothills
Rwenzori Trekkers Hostel.
Located in Kyanjuki village, Kilembe, it is found just 12km from Kasese town. It is regarded the most standard place to begin and end a trek, and it offers outstanding and enormous views of the Nyamwamba River and the Rwenzori Mountains.The hostel provides a variety of lodging and accommodation options, including camping, dormitories, single rooms, and double rooms.
Ruboni Community Camp
There is also the beautiful Ruboni Community Camp, that is situated on a hillside near the main entrance to the park, this camp been a trendsetter in the tourism community within the local area. The camp is entirely owned, operated and maintained by the Bakonzo community who have lived in the foothills of the Rwenzoris for over 300 years.
The camp offers a range of activities which will immerse you in the nature and culture of the Rwenzoris, including a traditional dance performance and an overnight hill walk.
Even though the camp is suitable and perfect for mountaineers, it is also a thrilling and charming environment for travelers who want to take their explorations at a relaxing pace.
Geolodge Equator Snow Lodge
We also have the Geolodge Equator Snow Lodge, this is a beautiful and affordable place is located next to the entrance of the Rwenzori Mountains National Park, the Equator Snow Lodge is a popular lodge in the region. Since opening in 2012, the lodge has provided quality accommodation for both seasoned mountaineers and first time hikers alike.
The lodge works with the Raboni Community and Rwenzori Mountaineering Services to deliver a programme of outside activities from low endurance hikes to trekking to the peaks.
The lodge contains 4 spacious rooms which contain a double bed and two single beds.
Bulemba- Ihandiro Cultural Trail
This one is anticpated to take visistos walk through the whole valley for about 6 to 7 hours and other sites of great cultural importance to the local community tribes of the Bakonzo and Bamba. Usually a community tour guide will introduce the visitors to the traditional healer explaining how the super natural powers of the healer work and visitors are guided to the local blacksmith, will reveal the spiritual importance of each and every traditional stool of the Bakonzo community. Basket weaving and fire making skills are also demonstrated along the route.
The trail then takes you long the Kamusonge River whose waters are believed to be sweet and react very quickly to slowdown the thirst. After some good time of moving visitors will be given time to rest while enjoying the magnificent mountain views as well as shelter from the equatorial sun, following the break, visitors are the asked to continue with the journey for about an hour and this will take them through the museum that is thatched in the traditional local Bakonzo style, there are display of some of the equipment that were used during the Rwenzururu struggle, among the traditional dresses and other items of historical and cultural importance to the people of the Ruwenzoris are exhibited.
