7-Day Kenya Safari Samburu, Naivasha & Maasai Mara

Pickup from Mt. Kenya Gate and drive north through the dramatic landscapes of central Kenya to Samburu National Reserve. Arrive at your lodge in time for an afternoon game drive along the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River. Samburu is home to the rare “Special Five” — animals found nowhere else in Kenya: reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostrich.

Spend a full day exploring Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives. Spot reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostrich. The reserve is renowned for leopard sightings and large elephant herds. Optional visit to a local Samburu community village (at extra cost).

After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive south through the scenic highlands of central Kenya to the Great Rift Valley. Arrive at Lake Naivasha in the late afternoon and settle in at your lodge. Optional boat ride on the freshwater lake to spot hippos, fish eagles, and cormorants (at extra cost).

Morning cycling adventure through Hell's Gate National Park — ride alongside zebra, giraffe, and buffalo beneath towering volcanic cliffs and Fischer's Tower. After the ride, drive west through Narok town (lunch stop) to the legendary Maasai Mara. Arrive in the evening for your first glimpse of the Mara plains.

Full day in the Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. The Mara is Kenya's premier wildlife destination, home to the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. During migration season, witness the awe-inspiring spectacle of millions of wildebeest and zebra crossing the Mara River.

Another full day exploring different sectors of the Mara ecosystem. Visit the Mara River to look for crocodiles and hippos, and explore the Mara Triangle for exceptional big cat sightings. Optional early morning hot air balloon safari over the Mara (at extra cost). Optional visit to a Maasai cultural village (at extra cost).

After a final early morning game drive, depart the Maasai Mara and drive east through the Great Rift Valley back to Nairobi. Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the afternoon for your onward flight. End of an unforgettable 7-day Kenya safari.
